“The Blue Planet Counts on You!” PACT is a new national educational project, initiated by the PRAIS Foundation and Nestlé Romania. Its main objective is to reconnect primary school students with nature, to stimulate them to do simple gestures at home and at school through which they can protect nature and the planet’s natural resources every day.

The basis of the PACT project is the company’s desire to transpose in the local community the awareness efforts regarding sustainability, selective collection, responsible management of water resources. The authentic branding was inspired by Alex, a talented student from the community whose design was chosen from hundreds of children’s works. In territorial development, the foundation’s team uses modern rapid learning methodologies, digital information materials, such as the E-book PACT, films and a series of varied intra-school activities that creatively and practically involve students throughout the school year.

In the PACT project, 90 schools from 22 counties and 50 localities from the whole country voluntarily signed up. By the end of the school year, more than 10,000 primary school students will be able to access information and activities. In just one month after the launch of the ProiectulPACT Facebook page, the posts reached the screens of over 193,700 users.

“The first data from the school communities involved confirm the special interest of teachers, students and their families to participate in our initiative. The project responds to the need for action through education on the topic of environmental protection,” said Silvia Bucur, President of the PRAIS Foundation.

The theme of the first edition of PACT promotes students’ knowledge of the importance for the life of the fauna and flora of the planet, of planting trees, shrubs, flowers in the garden or in the pot at home, of the way in which they can save water and electricity consumption, the importance keeping clean the places in the community where they live, green spaces, forests, river waters, lakes and the sea, all of which are associated with the selective collection of recyclable waste.

“More than ever, we need to promote a profound change in the way we relate to the planet’s resources and what we leave to future generations. A sustainable change starts from personal example, from what each of us can do, now, but especially for the future. Good habits are learned at a young age and that’s why we chose to implement this project in partnership with primary school classes, to learn how we can have a zero impact on the environment – together!” said Irina Siminenco, Corporate Affairs Manager of Nestlé Romania.

In the “Blue Planet Counts On You!” PACT community every student can become, together with his family, teachers and schoolmates, a model for those around him.
