The “I’m living healthy, too!” – SETS national movement, initiated by the PRAIS Foundation in 2011, is in line with the objectives of the World Health Organization (WHO) in terms of preventing and fighting against child obesity, by implementing programmes promoting a balanced diet and physical activity to reduce sedentarism among children and adolescents.

In this context, together with institutional partners, healthcare organisations, universities and the founding members from Romalimenta Federation, the SETS movement has developed, at a school level, large scale information, education and activation campaigns for almost 180,000 primary school pupils from 250 schools, 5 towns and 14 rural localities, their families and 3,000 teachers, promoting a lifestyle based on physical activity, a balanced diet, hydration, hygiene and quality sleep.

“Our company purpose is to enhance quality of life and contribute to healthier future- commitments we have made to society. As a Founding Member, we have been supporting for the past 8 years the SETS national movement, now part of our global programme, Nestlé for Healthier Kids*, through which we set out to support 50 million children in leading a healthier life by 2030.”, declared Ana-Maria Doxan, Communication Director, Nestlé Romania.

According to a new study by the University of Granada, Spain**, physical activity supports brain development, and the children who regularly work out have more grey matter, translating in improved school results.

The last SETS edition had excellent results in activations meant to educate and motivate the pupils to do exercise, in line with WHO recommendations. Over 11.400 pupils and 462 teachers from 105 schools carried out 2,878 morning gym activities in the classroom. Easy running for 10 minutes was really successful, registering 2,031 running sessions, engaging 5,874 pupils and 227 teachers from 56 schools. Moreover, the pupils created and danced in 138 flash mobs, with by 9,751 pupils participating and 491 teachers from 82 schools.

When you are informed, you can make good choices! The benefits of daily exercising are recognised worldwide. This is why we believe that constant awareness-raising, education, activation of children and their families are a priority, in order to know and experience the beneficial and decisive effect of good lifestyle habits, for health”, declared Silvia Bucur, President of PRAIS Foundation.

The “I’m living healthy, too!” – SETS national movement has been made possible by the public – private partnership that includes 10 partners: state institutions, reputed healthcare and sports organisations, universities, under the auspices of the Science Council.
