Launched in 2020, the educational initiative “I love WATER!”, developed by the PRAIS Foundation team in partnership with Nestlé Romania team, ended its second edition with outstanding results: 17 primary schools from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Roman, Timisoara and Prahova, Dâmbovița and Ilfov counties responded to the project, launched in the preamble to World Oceans Day on June 8.
In this edition, 6,400 pupils from the preparatory classes to 4th grade had access to information and extracurricular activities, with the help of over 250 teachers from the schools involved. They benefited from an educational material in digital format – a guide with easy-to-apply recommendations on the importance of hydration and in everyday life on saving water and protecting it from pollution. The campaign also included, for the first time, an educational short film developed especially for this activity, addressed to children and their families.
The pupils responded to the initiative by creating 484 drawings on the topic of the educational materials received, in which they illustrated with great creativity and talent the importance of water for humans and the environment, and how water is the source of life on Earth. All 460 pupils who participated in the drawing contest received diplomas of excellence and Earth shaped balls.
During the 2 editions of the project, 9,432 pupils from the preparatory – 4th classes and 352 teachers from 22 schools in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Roman, Timisoara and Prahova, Dâmbovița and Ilfov counties benefited from educational materials, and the thematic drawing contest involved 730 pupils who submitted 755 drawings in this creative activity.
,,We ended another school year in which pupils could benefit from applied knowledge related to environmental protection. We will continue to implement such extracurricular educational projects together with our partner, convinced that today, more than ever, we must all take care of nature”, said Silvia Bucur, President of the PRAIS Foundation.
