The PRAIS Foundation, in partnership with Nestlé Romania company, through its Purina Pet Care category, implemented in 16 primary schools in Bucharest and Roman, Neamt county, the 4th edition of the Pet School extracurricular educational project. Over 8,000 students and over 320 teachers were able to have free access to materials and educational activities about the responsible care of pets.
As part of the Pet School extracurricular educational project, the students discovered the world of cats and dogs, together with Max the dog and Luna the cat, the two main characters of the project, and learned information about their history, hygiene, language, health, super powers and breeds. They also learned what activities they can do with their pets and how they should behave around them.
In the 2022 – 2023 edition, the teaching staff organized 250 thematic open lessons based on the Pet School Guides in which over 3,000 students participated. Participation in the drawing contest with the theme “People, dogs and cats, much better together!” was a great success, the children creating 1,900 works; 400 students, designated winners, were awarded with Pet School promotional materials.
During in this edition as well, the little ones proved that they are great lovers of pets, a fact proven by the presentation of their non-speaking friends. They created and sent to the PRAIS Foundation, through the teaching staff, more than 500 activities: compositions illustrated with drawings or images, presentations, photos and videos with the animals cared for responsibly by them as part of the “A day with my dog or my cat” activity.
The impact of this project was also proven by the positive results of the impact study, carried out by the PRAIS Foundation, in which the actively involved teaching staff participated. The conclusions of the study show that 100% of the respondents consider that the project contributed to changing the habits of responsible care of pets. Also, 100% of the respondents stated that the students’ parents consider this project useful, and 97% say that the children’s participation in the drawing competition enriched and fixed the information from the project.
From 2019 until now, over 30,000 students from the preparatory – 4th grades, over 60,000 members of their families and over 1,100 teaching staff from 58 schools in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Roman have been able to benefit from the educational materials and activities of Pet School.
The implementation of the 4 editions of the extracurricular project in schools was possible thanks to the partnerships concluded by the PRAIS Foundation with the School Inspectorate of the Municipality of Bucharest, the Cluj and Neamt County School Inspectorates, and with the participating schools.
